The NRI community that is hailing from state of Andhra Pradesh is one of the prominent and significant among the NRIs in western region of Saudi Arabia, Telugu is prima lingua of the state including capital city of Hyderabad and spoken by over 95 per cent population including Muslims whose mother tongue is Urdu. Due to lack of local language NRIs in general and their children in particular are subject to several hurdles and in state of handicap in terms of communication.
The students who are hailing from state of Andhra Pradesh are usually migrating to back home to India for higher studies or fulfill domicile norm and joining higher classes such 8,9 and 10th and opting as Special English however this exemption was waved off from last year and students who are joining in India has to face extremely abnormal difficult for learning Telugu.
Government of Andhra Pradesh has made mandatory to learn Telugu and its compulsory subject in X examinations of AP Secondary Board of Education; Three Language formula with Telugu mandatory is being made by state government through Directorate School Education and it’s determined to implement it without any exemption. (Circular No. 196/E-1-1/2008 Dated 09.06.2009)
In IISJ beside Arabic, Urdu and Malayalam and Tamil languages are being taught whereas there is no option for Telugu language, Tamil learning students are very low compare with Telugu learning interested however there is no proper mechanism or evolution to gauge the demand of Telugu language as each parent is confined to himself and there is no integration with other parents therefore there is no organized demand apart of individual requests.
Whenever the demand for introduction of Telugu is being made there is a simple reply from school authorities that please do submit the total number of students who wish to learn the language, which is difficult task for any single parent and being an individual he can submit only his ward request or can ask same for one of his relative or friend by maximum but its next to impossible for him to collect contact data from all parents relevant to Andhra Pradesh and submit the massive request.
Parents demanding that it’s the task of school authorities to seek mandate for introducing Telugu language from parents on the basis of their number or any other factors.
Parents are requesting school authorities to look into their legitimate and genuine demand and initiate necessary measures for introducing the Telugu language for students for their future needs back home in Andhra Pradesh.
