NRI Forum Riyadh and Bazm-e-Rabab-e-Sahra recently honored and felicitated a promoter of Urdu in Riyadh, two Urdu poets and a journalist. An ardent lover of Urdu language who played an important role in promotion of Urdu language and literature in Saudi Capital Mir Ahmed Ali, Urdu poets Hashmat Siddiqi, Malik Mohiuddin and bilingual journalist Mohammed Saifuddin were felicitated for contributions and services in their respective fields.
The felicitation function was held along with the Mushaira (poetry recitation) event. The poets Malik Mohiuddin and Hashmat Siddiqui rendered their poetry with scattering attack on the current situation in Syria. Humorous poets Shaukat Jamal and Abu Nabeel Khaja Masihuddin sprinkled laughter with their bone tickling poetry. Their humorous poetry was liked and appreciated by all the audience.
Rizwanul Haq Allahbadi, Sagheer Rahmani, Sajjadullah Khan Fikri, Khursheedul Hassan Nayyar and Prof. Iqbal Aijaz Baig captivated the audience with their impressive renderings. All the poets got huge applause.
Mir Firasat Ali Khusro read an article about Mir Ahmed Ali and highlighted his efforts in starting Urdu literary and cultural events in Riyadh. Along with his friends and associates he organized numerous programs in Riyadh. Other than organizing cultural gatherings Mir Ahmed Ali is an ardent reader. Even though he himself owns a huge library, he borrows books from others to fulfill his reading thirst. He holds enormous knowledge and information about the life and contributions of Maulana Abulkalam Azad. He is regarded as an expert in this field.
Editor, Hyderabad Express weekly, Mohammed Tajammul Ali Khan briefly introduced Mohammed Saifuddin and highlighted several of his accomplishments during his journalistic journey. A bilingual journalist equally eloquent in English and Urdu, Saif started writing for newspapers and magazines since early age when he was in school.
He wrote many articles on Yahind.com about the problems of Indian expatriates in Gulf countries. Later on collection of these articles was published as a book titled “Expat Ride”. This book got very good response all over GCC and India. It was used as one of the reference material for preparation of the theme paper of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2013. The PBD organizers for that year, Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, New Delhi contacted Saif and sought the copy of his book for this purpose.
In 2012, a question about this book was included in the preparatory material for UPSC examinations. Later on, this question was repeated in several competitive examinations and also included in general knowledge books.
The two awardee poets and Mir Ahmed Ali are returning back to India permanently. General Secretary Hindustani Baze-e-Urdu and former president Bazm-e-Urdu Toastmasters Club Eng. Abdul Hameed presented memento of appreciation to Mir Ahmed Ali.
President, Tanzeem Hum Hindustani and Osmania University Alumni Association Riyadh, Mohammed Quaiser presented appreciation award to poet Malik Mohiuddin. Former President, Bazm-e-Urdu Toastmasters Club, Dr. Ozair Ghazi presented the memento to another poet Hashmat Siddiqui. Journalist Mohammed Saifuddin received the memento of appreciation from Mir Firasat Ali Khusro.
General Secretary Bazm-e-Rabab-e-Sahra Khursheedul Hasan Nayyar welcomed the gathering and introduced the award winners. Chief Guest Prof. Iqbal Aijaz Baig congratulated all the award winners and expressed his well wishes for those who are returning back to the home land.
Abu Nabeel Khaja Masihudin conducted the proceedings while Hafiz Mohammed Shahid Ali Khan recited the versed of the Quran with Urdu translation.
