Dr. Shayma Al Fawwaz, Founder and CEO of Gossip The Brand, a leading company managing the popular Gossip Café and Desserts and other concepts, shared recently her industry expertise in a food and beverage (F&B) workshop in Sharjah that was organized by the Young Arab Leaders (YAL) in partnership with Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development. As one of the guest panelists, Dr. Al Fawwaz discussed the major challenges and emerging opportunities in the UAE’s F&B market along with Abdullah Mullah, Co-Founder of Home Bakery, and Mariam Al Hashemi, Co-Founder of Roux, during the session held at the Sheraa – Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center of the American University of Sharjah. Nabra Al Busaidi, Executive Director of the YAL provided an introductory speech for the panel while Jassim Al Bastaki, Secretary General of the Emirati Entrepreneurs Association served as the main speaker and chief moderator for the session.

Discussions revolved around innovation and new technology in the regional and global F&B markets. The YAL and Khalifa Fund, a non-profit business group under the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, hosted the workshop to nurture the entrepreneurial ideas and skills of young Emiratis and scale up their businesses for a more sustainable future for the country.

Dr. Al Fawwaz said: “I would like to commend the organizers for making the highly important entrepreneurship-focused workshop possible. The forum empowered our youth; helped build a smarter, more creative, and purpose-driven F&B industry in the UAE and the region; and opened up new learning opportunities for local startups and small and medium enterprises. We need to continuously hold similar initiatives as part of our all-encompassing nation-building efforts. I would also like to extend my gratitude to the Khalifa Fund, YAL, and Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center – Sheraa for supporting local entrepreneurs as well as the growth of our future business leaders.”

“YAL demonstrates our confidence and faith in the abilities of today’s youth, especially in their efforts to make a difference and further effect positive change in society. Encouraging the development of their talents and skills will allow them to play their roles as key contributors to our economy and the further development of society”, concluded Muna Al Gurg is Chairwoman of Young Arab Leaders.
