INCOMING & OUTGOING DONT'S

1. Don't bring in any
  (a) contraband goods
  (b) goods in trade quantities
  (c) dangerous drugs
 

(d)

prohibited goods
    These do not constitute bona fide baggage.
2. Do not
  (a) misdeclare
  (b) fail to declare
  (c) conceal
    any item of your baggage
    If you do this, you may be:-
    (i) deprived of the free allowances permitted under the rules  
(ii) you may be penalised and/or prosecuted
3. If you are passing through the "Walk Through" or "Green" channel, you are, in the discretion of the officer concerned, liable to be examined as a passenger passing through the "Red Channel".
4. Don't involve yourself in
(a) bringing in
(b) taking out
any package owned by others.
5. Don't
(a) act as a carrier directly or indirectly 
(b) accept free passage,
(c) accept free hotel accommodation
(d) accept any monetary benefit.
This may attract penal action under the law in force.
6. Motor vehicle is not considered to be a baggage item.
7. Don't bring in any crude gold jewellery which may be classified as gold bullion.
8. Don't
(a) acquire
(b) carry with you
foreign exchange exceeding the amount duly authorised by the Reserve Bank of India.
9. Don't carry with you foreign exchange such as
  (a) foreign bank drafts drawn in favour of another person
  (b) traveller's cheques drawn in favour of another person.
10. Don't
  (a) bring
  (b) take out
    any Indian currency except to the limited extent permitted.
11. Dont' Import fire-arms (including air guns) as baggage.
12. Import of fire-arms through the medium of post is prohibited.
13. Don't import or export
  (a) counterfeit coins
  (b) literature
  (c) painting
  (d) figures
    which are obscene/prohibited
14. Don't import
  (a) plants
  (b) vegetables
  (c) fruits
    unless these items are covered by proper documents.
15. Don't remodel the jewellery permitted to the tourists on Tourist Baggage Re-Export Form.
16. Tourists should refrain from importing jewellery of high value, as it may be detained for valuation by the Customs Jewellery Appraiser.   If the value exceeds Rs. 50,000 suitable guarantee or bond may be required for its release on Tourist Baggage Re-export Form.
17. Don't import pets/birds without valid health certificate for the pet.
18. Don't export
  (a) dangerous drugs, e.g., hashish, opium.
  (b) prohibited items, e.g., skins of wild animals, coffee seeds.
19. Don't export
  (a) gold/diamond jewellery beyond the permissible limits
  (b) silver and merchandise goods
20. Don't misplace or lose
  (a) Tourist Baggage Re-Export Form
  (b) Currency Declaration Form
  (c) Detention Receipt
  (d) any other documents issued by the concerned authorities at the time of landing or departure.
    In case you happen to lose any of these documents you should contact the Customs authorities well in advance
21. Don't check in at the last moment
  (a) when you have been allowed articles temporarily free of duty on Tourist baggage Re-export Form
  (b) availed of Transfer of Residence concessions and your stay in India is less than one year
  (c) if you desire to obtain an export certificate
  (d) if your desire to claim drawback
