Abu Dhabi: Subcontinental rivals India and Pakistan are to to clash in a neutral venue in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday after six years. Both the teams arrived in the UAE capital on Sunday.

The Indian and Pakistani cricket teams will play two one-day internationals on April 18 and 19. It will be the first series between the two rivals on a neutral venue after six years.

Indian coach Greg Chappell and vice-captain Virender Sehwag (right) relax after a hard day’s practice at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.

Captain Inzamam-ul-Haq and other team members also had a workout supervised by coach Bob Woolmer. at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.

Tuesday’s match will also be the first official one to be played at the stadium.

India and Pakistan met at a neutral venue in 2000. But following a match-fixing controversy, the Indian Government banned the team from playing at such venues.

The two matches in Abu Dhabi will raise funds for victims of the earthquake that rocked the subcontinent in October.
