First Indian website launched in Saudi Arabia

RIYADH, Jan 22: City-based expartriates from India have launched a website for their compatriots in Saudi Arabia.

Mr Syed Zia Ur Rahman, an executive from Hyderabad has developed www,yahind.Com to provide a wealth of information to Non-Resident Indian.

Mr Zia, who works at a consultative medical clinic here, said the Middle East NRI’s first portal website for the Indian community had comprehensive links and information of interest to NRIs.

It includes NRIs’ frequently asked questions, legal and health tips, free online services, jobs and course information, career tips, as well as information about the Indian stock market, internet resources, media resources, entrepreneur ideas, job resources, tourist information, links to Indian universities and educational institutes.

Other points of interest are investment opportunities, foreign exchange regulations, baggage and customs rules in India, housing loans, property acquisition procedures, open bank account online, and distance learning programmes. Political and general Indian news and Air India and Saudi flight schedules are also just a click away.

Mr Zia, who developed his site by working six to eight hours a day after office hours, invites nris to freely place community news - whether on cultural or sports events in the kingdom - and classified ads. He will also publicise any notification or new regulations from the Indian Embassy of interest to NRIs.

Mr Zia said NRIs will have a free e-mail storage facility of up to six megabytes to send or retrieve e-mail from his website anywhere in the world, which can be used to send seasons greetings and also for a free private chat room to communicate with friends and relatives.

"Those looking for educational opportunities overseas or in India for their children or want to pursue distance learning courses, such as MBAs, or on computer programming, web design, etc can contact www.Yahind.Com," he said, adding that the response had been highly encouraging. He invited all Indians to get free membership with www.Yahind.Com. (UNI)
