Pamper your dogs and do not forget the cleanliness of your city

Dubai, 7 December 2017:

The Veterinary Services Section in the Public Health Services Department of Dubai Municipality organized a cleanliness initiative called “Pamper your dog and do not forget the cleanliness of your city” as part of this year’s Clean up the World campaign.

The initiative was aimed to convey the Municipality’s message to the pet owners to take care of the cleanliness of the city as an individual responsibility by consciously dealing with the waste of their dogs which are usually produced when the pet owners take their dogs for walks on the public streets.

The pet owners were asked to keep plastic bags dedicated for this purpose and gathering these wastes instantly and disposing them off in places allocated to that preserving the civilized face of the city to prevent polluting the green spaces and roads with these wastes. It will also help reduce their public health hazards and to minimize complaints and reports from public.

The two-day campaign was held on 23rd and 24th November 2017 in five areas: Uptown Mirdiff, Motor City, Dubai Downtown and Zabeel Park. The campaign was attended by the Municipality staff and external volunteers from the James Wellington High School, Dubai and the female students of the University of Sharjah.

Participants in the campaign communicated the message to the public through the distribution of leaflets with guidelines on violations related to pet breeding in the Emirate of Dubai and a bulletin on the basic principles of animal welfare.

A questionnaire was also distributed to different categories of people to gauge the impact of the campaign. The results of the survey, participated by 250 people, showed that the campaign was a highly successful one.
