Just under 300 kms west of Alexandria is this small harbourtown justly renowned for its silken expanse of sand beach and the translucent, perennial tranquility of its turquoise and azure bay enclosed by a natural rock formation. Rommel's Cave. hideout of the desert Fox and used by him as Staff Headquarters during the Desert Campaign, has been converted into a War Museum where Rommel's own armory donated to Egypt by his son, is on display.
