The 2nd match of the Main round of the Championship Trophy played between New Zealand and South Africa being played at
Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai brought unexpected result.
Put into bat by Graeme Smith the New Zealanders managed to get just 195, although well placed at 74 for 2 in 16 overs ,
Skipper Fleming was holding the lone fort with a responsible innings of 89 but the rest showed a dismal batting performance
Rather throwing their wickets.
For South Africa Pollock, Andrew Nel and Hall bowled economically but it was Kallis who got 3 wickets in his pocket.
When South Africa began chasing a modest total, KD Mills in the absence of Bond bowled a fiery spell quashing their hopes, Later Jacob Oram and Pater wrapped up the innings in great fashion unsettling the formidable batting line-up of Gibbs, Kallis, Boucher & Kemp, only captain Graeme Smith played some fine shots to get 42 but could’nt save his team to be all out for 108 in 34 overs.
Second match has come to an end but no team has so far crossed 200 mark, something difficult to believe.
