In the 3rd match of the qualifying round of the ICC Championship Trophy being played at Sardar Patel Stadium Gujarat, Ahmedabad Sri Lanka comprehensively beat Zimbabwe by a huge margin of 144 runs.
Sri Lanka winning the toss elected to bat first, and were more than happy to see their opener Upul Tharanga scoring a fine back to back century. He took over from where he left at Mohali with a brilliant knock of 110 with 13 fours and a huge six, when Jayasurya and skipper Jayawardene were sent back in quick succession it was Kumara Sangakkara who alongwith Tharanga scored a solid 80, the only consolation for the Zimbabweans was they restricted the opponents to cross 300-mark, as they could reach only 285 in their allotted 50 overs.
When Zimbabwe began chasing a total beyond their capacity wickets fell at regular intervals and at no stage of the game they looked as chasing, none of them offered resistance except Masakadza and Taylor scoring 30 a piece, they eventually were all out for 141 with nearly 8 overs in spare.
Bangladesh take on West Indies tomorrow 11th October for the 4th match at Jaipur.
